Swanand Kirkire at Jaipur Literature Festival 2017 #10Speakers10Weeks


Swanand Kirkire has a career that spans many of the creative arts, though he may most famously be known as a lyricist, having won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics twice, with his most famous song Bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna. His career started in the theatre, directing before moving into writing for television and eventually acting in films including Crazy Cukkad Family, and theatre.

The wait for the 2nd list of speakers, coming at the JLF 2017 is over. Anne Waldman, will be making her first visit to the Jaipur Literature Festival. Hindi epic writer Narendra Kohli, “Bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna” lyricist Swanand Kirkire, award-winning poet, novelist, critic and author Ruth Padel, Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for First Book awarded Vikram Chandra, British writer, journalist and broadcaster Simon Winchester, OBE, Italian writer and publisher Roberto Calasso, Scottish art historian Neil MacGregor, American Journalist Dexter Filkins, Filkins was part of the winning team for the Pulitzer Prize in 2009 and British-Bangladeshi writer Tahmima Anam are the other 9 speakers of the second #10Speakers10Weeks list.


Anne Waldman is coming to Jaipur Literature Festival 2017 #10Speakers10Weeks


JLF is revealing, names of some of the world’s greatest writers and thinkers set to appear at the Festival, every Tuesday at 6.00pm. The first list has names of Alice Walker, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Eka Kurniawan, SL Bhyrappa, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Mark Haddon, Sir David Hare, Alan Hollinghurst, Richard Flanagan and NoViolet Bulawayo.



Jaipur Literature Festival 2017 will take place between 19 and 23 January 2017 at Diggi Palace Hotel in Jaipur.

As a pioneering champion of literary debate and social dialogue, both Indian and international, a strong focus of JLF 2017 will be to celebrate one of the world’s largest democracies through the theme ‘The Freedom to Dream: India at 70’ and drive conversations around modern India in the context of its history and its future.
